Invisible Shadow: A Grand and Modern Residential Design

Unveiling the Harmonious Combination of Rectangular Color Lumps and Different Materials

The style of Invisible Shadow is the "grand and modern" preference of the client, and Tzu-Chieh Li has successfully brought their imagination to life in the living space. Gray, black, and white are used to outline rectangular color lumps, while special paints and leather textures emphasize the nature of the stone. The play of natural light through light-adjusting blinds complements the wooden couch, creating a harmonious ambiance.

To address the narrow layout of the dining, kitchen, and living room on the second floor, an open layout was adopted to enlarge the space. This design decision not only enhances functionality but also contributes to the overall modern atmosphere of the design.

Material selection played a crucial role in realizing the "grand" atmosphere desired by the client. A large piece of marble serves as the centerpiece of the venue, displaying a majestic and smooth texture. Gray, black, and white special paints, system panels, and mirrors were used to soften the dazzling elements and highlight the texture of the marble. Metal parts and a solid wood grille further enhance the overall aesthetic.

Invisible Shadow is a 148.7 square meter newly completed house that perfectly embodies the theme of "grand and modern" in its public area. The designer's meticulous attention to detail is evident in the choice of stone texture, iron shelves, and a solid wood grille for decoration. The private area, on the other hand, leans towards a modern and casual style to cater to the users' need for rest and sleep. The intermittent color flash in the private area echoes the design of the public space, creating a cohesive visual experience throughout the residence.

Functionality and interaction were key considerations in the design of Invisible Shadow. By blurring the visual boundaries between the kitchen, dining room, and living room, the designer has created a space that encourages seamless flow and interaction. The homeowner can savor food in the living room, children can do their homework in the dining room, and the family can enjoy quality time together.

Invisible Shadow was completed in February 2022 in Taiwan. The design process involved extensive research and experimentation to achieve the desired "grand" atmosphere. The use of a large piece of marble as the focal point, combined with special coatings and careful selection of colors and materials, resulted in a visually stunning and cohesive design.

This exceptional design has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2023. The award acknowledges the outstanding creativity and resourcefulness demonstrated in Invisible Shadow, which incorporates best practices in art, science, design, and technology. This design not only exhibits strong technical and creative skills but also contributes to improving the quality of life, making the world a better place.
